This statement describes what personal data Sparke(„we“, „the platform“) processes and what rights you have under Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR) and Slovak Act No. 18/2018 Coll. on personal data protection.
1. Controller
Controller: Richard Adamik, contact: richardadamik02052011@gmail.com. Write to that address with any question about how your data is handled.
2. What we process
- Account data: email, password (hashed), and your name and Google account if you sign in with Google.
- Profile: username, name, bio, school, goal, location, industry, links (website, GitHub, LinkedIn), certificates, projects — all optional and entered by you.
- Content: posts, comments, messages, project memberships, connections and follows.
- Technical data: the cookies needed to keep you signed in. No advertising or third-party tracking cookies.
3. Purpose and legal basis
- Running your account and the platform — performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).
- Showing your public profile and posts to other members — your consent and our legitimate interest in running a community.
- Security and abuse prevention — legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)).
4. What other people can see
Be aware that your profile and your posts are visible to other signed-in members, and your public profile at /u/your-name can be visible without signing in. Direct messages are seen only by you and the recipient. Do not put anything in your profile you would not want visible.
5. Processors (third parties)
- Supabase — database and sign-in (data hosted in the EU region).
- Vercel — hosting for the web application.
- Resend — sending email (address verification, sign-in links, password resets). It receives your email address.
- Slack — only if you connect a project to Slack. Notices about applications to your team then go to the channel you choose.
- Google (Gemini), Perplexity — language models behind the AI features. They receive the text you send them, not your profile.
6. How long we keep it
We keep your data while your account is active. After you request deletion, your account is deactivated at once and your profile, content and messages are deleted 14 days later, unless you cancel the request in the meantime. A few records outlive the account, because they are evidence rather than content:
- Consent records (which version of the terms you accepted, and when) — 3 years after the account is deleted, as proof of the legal basis.
- Parent or guardian consents — 3 years after the child turns 18.
- Data-room access log (who opened which project material, and when) — 2 years.
- Moderation records (reports, decisions, reasons and appeals) — 5 years, because of appeals and regulatory oversight.
- Deletion requests — 1 year after the deletion is carried out, as proof that it was.
7. Your rights
- Access, rectification and erasure.
- Restriction of processing and data portability.
- Objection, and withdrawal of consent at any time.
- Complaint to the Slovak Office for Personal Data Protection, which is the supervisory authority because the controller is established in Slovakia.
You can request the deletion of your account yourself in the app: Settings → Delete account, confirmed by typing your username. The account is deactivated straight away; your profile and your content are deleted after a 14-day grace period, during which you can cancel the request from Settings. You can also export everything we hold about you from the same screen, as a file, or ask at the contact address above.
8. Reports, decisions and appeals
Anyone can report content on Sparke — a post, comment, message, project or profile. When we act on a report, or on our own initiative, the person affected gets a written reason for the decision, as the EU Digital Services Act requires. You can see every decision that concerns you and appeal against it at /decisions in the app; each appeal gets an answer. Reports and decisions are kept as described in section 6.
9. Age
Sparke is for people aged 13 and over. Under 16 — the age of consent for information society services in Slovakia — a parent or guardian has to confirm the account before it becomes active. We email them and wait for that confirmation.
10. Changes
We may update this statement; we will announce significant changes in the app.
